President’s Letter – Spring 2020

AIH News

Dear Colleagues,

I hope the recent holiday season was a cheerful and good one for you. The AIH Board has been busy at work. Here are some recent newsworthy items.

The Annual AIH Conference

Every year the AIH has an educational conference to help us all continue to improve the crucial healing work that we do. As of this writing, the AIH Board is exploring some new ways of having the conference. We emailed members as well as posted on the members’ list serve requesting input. Under consideration is a three-day live streaming by internet event that would feature either a single presenter for all three days or possibly a different presenter for each of the three days. If you have comments to make, please send them ASAP.

AIH Historical Records

The history of the AIH is important and more than just a fanciful topic of interest for some a few people. We have an obligation to maintain our records for historical and legal purposes. The AIH Board has explored ways of keeping these records safe and available. Last spring, we made contact with a representative of The Legacy Center at Drexel University College of Medicine. The Legacy Center is the repository for the records and heritage of Drexel University College of Medicine and its predecessor institutions, including Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania (W/MCP) and Hahnemann University, as well as a repository of much of the history of homeopathic medicine in the U.S, rooted in Hahnemann’s founding as the first school of homeopathic medicine in the United States. The Center already has homeopathic records in its collection, and expressed great interest in adding AIH records to its collection. The Center has modern, state of the art, preservation techniques.

The AIH has reached an agreement with Drexel to maintain and preserve AIH records.

Please send them your case records, any books relating to the history of homeopathy in the US, and/or any AIH records to which you might have access to have them included in this large collection and safely preserved for posterity. Please contact me.

Homeopathy and the FDA in the US

I’m sure you have heard about the current situation with the FDA regarding regulation of homeopathic medications. The AIH, Americans For Homeopathy Choice (AFHC), AAHP, NCH and other national organizations continue to be in discussion with the FDA. Members of the Board of the AIH recently had a meeting with top members of the FDA who are involved. The FDA staff would like to hear the homeopathic perspective from currently practicing medical practitioners. We are hopeful this will have a positive impact on their decision-making process regarding establishing workable guidelines for the regulation of homeopathic medications. More information about the potential impact of this meeting will be forthcoming.

I wish you all great happiness, success, and deep satisfaction in your work of service in reducing human suffering.

Respectfully,

Ron Dushkin, MD
President, American Institute of Homeopathy
